Outcome
The board voted unanimously to remove the proposal, about two months early.
California regulators proposed a dramatic expansion of toxic waste dumping in neighborhood landfills. Influent found the people who would live with the consequences and built a testimony experience that turned their own answers into hearing-ready talking points, each one different. At the first hearing in a small Central Valley town, more than 40 speakers from over a dozen organizations filled nearly half the room. The campaign followed the proposal through hearings across the state. We didn't manufacture a constituency. We found the one that already existed.
